Adele Announces London Tour Dates

If you are a fan of the fantastic female vocalist Adele then the news that she has set the dates for her London concerts in 2016 will be music to your ears.

Following the release of the smash hit single, ‘Hello’, which reached number one in 28 countries, Adele has just announced four concert dates in March 2016, as part of a sweep across the UK and Europe, off the back of new album ‘25’, which smashed various sales records since its release last week. It also marks her first tour in four years.

Fans can enjoy seeing one of the UK’s most successful singers from 15th to 19th of March 2016 at the O2 Arena.  Tickets go on sales tomorrow from 9am, and are guaranteed to sell out within hours, so ensure you get in quick to catch what is guaranteed to be an amazing performance.

Getting to and From the Show

To avoid the heaving London traffic and enjoy travel to and from the concert in style, why not book a chauffeur-driven car to make the event extra special.  One of our drivers will pick you up from your chosen location, (including any London airport), take you to a restuarant if required, then onto the concert and safely home again.

To make a booking for the night, call us on +44 (0)20 3174 2122, but be quick as we are sure to book up well in advance of this popular event.

Is It Safe To Visit London?

Following the terrible events in Paris just under two weeks ago and Brussels being in lockdown for the last four days following an “imminent terrorist threat”, one could be forgiven for being apprehensive about visiting London at present.

Adding to the concern, the United States has issued a global travel warning, urging its citizens to exercise caution in all public places.

But is there a good reason to be concerned about an attack in the UK capital?  Or is London perfectly safe for visitors?

The answer is a combination of both.

The Effect of the Paris Terrorist Attacks on the European Tourist Industry

According to the New York Times, a “plea for international fraternité has become the mantra of worried executives in Paris’s hotel and tourism industry”.  All of Europe is putting on a show of solidarity with France and carrying on a normally as possible but despite this, hotels, restaurants, museums, conference and exhibition centers, retail stores, and yes, even chauffeur companies, are feeling the blow.

Protecting People in London

It is reassuring to remember two things when considering whether or not you are safe as a tourist or business professional in London:

  1. Unfortunately, the UK administration has had years of experience in dealing with terrorist threats (remember the IRA) making them experts in identifying and defeating terrorist-related plots and ;
  2. The UK has one of the most renowned intelligence, military and police services in the world, who have proven many times that they can keep citizens safe.

In fact, just two days ago Britain’s Prime Minister, David Cameron, announced that an extra 10,000 troops were being put on standby in case an attack were to occur.

Cold Hard Statistics

The fact is that in our 24/7 news culture, the threat of a terrorist attack occurring is wildly exaggerated.  Remember, frightening people sells more advertising space!

According to data from 2011, your odds of being involved in a terrorist attack are 1 in 20 million.  Granted, since this data was released, we have had the civil war in Syria and the rise of Isis; however, terrorists still have a long way to go before they overtake bees (1 in 71,623), bathtubs (your chances of drowning in your own tub is 1 in 800,000) and being struck by lightning (1 in 84,079).

So the general advice is; enjoy yourself, live your life, stick with your plans, but be aware of your surroundings and exercise caution.  London is one of the most exciting, dynamic cities in the world, with amazing business opportunities and tourist sites.  And no one has the right to make people feel too afraid to enjoy them.  By doing that, the terrorists have won.

Top Five Things To Look For When Hiring A Wedding Car

Your wedding day should be a day full of magic and nothing creates that more than the vehicles you chose to transport you and the wedding party to your wedding location, reception and honeymoon.  But what should you look for when choosing your wedding cars?  Here are our top five tips for choosing the perfect vehicle for your big day.

  1. The Theme of Your Big Day

It is important that the wedding cars you choose match the overall theme of your wedding.  For example, if you are having a traditional wedding, then a classic Rolls Royce Phantom would be an ideal pick for your transportation.  However, for a vintage inspired wedding, a 1940’s Rover P3 would be much more suitable and enhance the style of the theme perfectly.

  1. Travelling Distance and Time of Year

If the reception is a reasonable distance from the church or registry office, then make sure you consider your own and the bridal parties comfort, especially if you will be visiting various locations for photographs along the way.  A sleek Mercedes SL convertible may be fabulous for a warm July wedding where you are only travelling a mile or two between locations, but not so great in April if you have to travel between different towns or villages.

  1. The Colour of the Vehicle

Make sure you consider the colour of the Brides and Bridesmaids’ outfits and flowers before choosing the shade of the vehicle.  It is often best to stick with neutral colours such as grey, white and cream to avoid any clashes of colour which could tarnish the wedding photos.

  1. Comfort and Convenience

Can you get into the car without damaging your wedding dress?  Does your veil of hairpiece get squashed up against the roof?  Is there enough room for everyone to sit without being piled on top of each other?  If possible, try and have a test run of the vehicle before the big day so there are no nasty, last minute panic adjustments to be made before you leave the house!

  1. Is Your Driver Safe, Friendly and Professional?

The last thing you want on your wedding day is a chain-smoking, vest-wearing aggressive driver with a colourful vocabulary turning up to take you to the church.  Ensure you meet with a representative of the company from whom you will be hiring your car from, and if possible, the person who will drive you on the day.  A good chauffeur company will provide fully-uniformed chauffeurs with impeccable manners, an attention to detail and exemplary driving skills.

By taking the time to check out these five factors when choosing the right car and company to transport you on your wedding day, you can be assured of picking a vehicle that fully compliments the theme and specialness of your big day.

Continental Chauffeurs specialises in providing wedding cars and drivers to transport you and your wedding party to your wedding location and reception.  To find out about our services, please call us on +44 (0)20 3174 2122.
